Welcome Zoom
Prior to diving into the content, you will get to meet myself, Jenny, and the other participants via Zoom. Whoo hoo!
Launching into Leadership might be online and self paced but that does NOT mean you will be doing it all on your own.
During this session I will walk you through the online portal showing you where everything is kept. I will introduce you to the private discussion forum and how you can contact me if you have questions. AND you will meet the other Launchers joining you on this journey.
All Zooms will be recorded and uploaded into the portal.
A New Model of (School) Leadership
Are you resisting leadership because the model "A Leader" that you have in your head is wrong? Are you worried that you will never live up to the expectations of what a "good leader" is, and does? This model covers the research around the qualities of great contemporary leaders and how they get results.
Leading with Authenticity
I want you to truly embrace your own personal strengths, leadership styles and emotional intelligence. This is the key to leading in a way that feels right and easy. By leveraging your strengths and leading authentically, it will ensure you will more effortlessly engage, motivate and develop members of your team.

- how to discover your own style
- how to know what your strengths are and put them to use
- understanding the impact and importance of emotional intelligence
- understanding the concept of armoured leadership
- how to notice when you are NOT being your best self and how that impacts on your performance
Zoom Tutorial 1
Every 2 weeks we will join together again via Zoom to review the previous two modules. Jenny will walk you through some of the key concepts and invite you to participate in collaborative activities - carefully designed to embed your learning.
You will have ample opportunities to ask questions, share successes and learn from each other.
These Zoom calls will go for approximately 1 hour and Jenny will stay on the call to answer further questions for another 30 minutes. All Zoom calls will be recorded if you can not make the session live.
Leading with Confidence
Confidence can be a real barrier to leadership success for women. This module can be life changing for women who second guess themselves, feel like they aren't ready to lead or who get stuck in perfectionism. You will learn what derails your confidence PLUS simple, actionable strategies for dialling up your self-belief when it is needed.
Lessons include:
- Why confidence is an issue for women
- How to over-ride your brain when you feel nervous or unsure
- How to leverage your strengths to improve your confidence
- How to notice the stories you tell yourself that impact your self-belief
- The danger of perfectionism
- The importance of "failing fast and often" to improving confidence
- How to take confident action
Creating the career you deserve
There is a fantastic career out there with your name on it. This module helps you to understand your personal brand and the importance of creating a team around you, so that you achieve your ideal role AND thrive when you get there. In this module you will be supported to set a vision for your career/life and develop a plan to make it happen.
Lessons include:
- Developing a clear, compelling vision for your career (and life)
- Getting clear on your personal brand, what you stand for and how you want to perceived by others
- The fundamental importance of mentors, coaches, sponsors and networks to your career success
Zoom Tutorial 2
The second tutorial Zoom will occur after Module 4. By now you will have had plenty of opportunities to dive deep into the content, research and worksheets contained in the portal. Like Session 1, this Zoom will allow you to ask questions as well as participate in group activities carefully chosen to consolidate your learning.
These Zoom calls are 60 minutes long and Jenny will stay on the call for up to an addition 30 mins to allow for specific questions. All Zooms are recorded and you can (re)watch later.
Starting Strong
Do you want to know the mistakes that rookie leaders make, and learn the skills to avoid them? In this module you will learn about the skills and processes necessary to start strong at every point in your journey.
Lessons include:
- The importance of trust and how to build it
- How to set expectations with your team and hold them accountable
- The power of delivering clear feedback
- How to establish and manage your own boundaries
- Understanding the need for both courage and vulnerability in leaders and exploring what that looks like/feels like for you
Leading the People
Trust me... the toughest part of school leadership is getting the grown-ups you manage to behave! This module will give you all the knowledge and understandings you will need to adopt a constructive, coaching approach to leading people and bring about change in your team or school. Learn how to develop a culture of respect, innovation and collaboration that leads to results.
Lessons include:
- Understanding a coaching approach to grow your team
- How to avoid the "Advice Trap" and telling people what to do
- The critical skills of listening, empathy and curiosity
- How to give feedback and still maintain positive relationships
Zoom Tutorial 3
The third tutorial Zoom will occur after Module 6. The previous modules share many practical tools that you may wish to try back in your school. In this session you will be encouraged to share your experiences and actions. Importantly you will be able to ask Jenny and the other participants for help and advice.
These Zoom calls are 60 minutes long and Jenny will stay on the call for up to an addition 30 mins to allow for specific questions. All Zooms are recorded and you can (re)watch if you are not able to attend live.
Leading with Balance
Leadership does not have to come at the cost of your personal life and wellbeing. In this module we will explore simple but proven ways to maintain your own physical and psychological health, avoiding overwhelm and burn out.
Lessons include
- How to manage your energy and not just your time
- How to use your diary and calendar to protect your boundaries
- Practical tools for effective meetings
- Creating wellbeing habits to ensure you thrive not just survive
Bringing it all together
There is no point learning a whole bunch of new skills if you aren't going to do anything differently. This module provides guidance to reflect on your key learnings and plan how to take small but deliberate steps into your best career and life. Who is the leader you want to be and what is the next logical step to get closer to being her?
Zoom Tutorial 4 / Celebration
The final tutorial Zoom will occur approximately 3 weeks after Module 8 is released.
Just like the other Zoom tutorials, Jenny will review and reinforce the self-paced content from the previous modules. The emphasis of this session is to celebrate your learning and progress and that of your peers.
These Zoom calls are 60 minutes long and Jenny will stay on the call for up to an addition 30 mins to allow for specific questions. All Zooms are recorded and you can (re)watch if you are not able to attend live.

I became a school leader more by accident than design, I just said yes to every opportunity put in front of me. I found myself leading a complex school with challenging students (and staff)... and I was drowning.

Here are the answers to some questions you may have:
I am confused about how this course works
Modules with all their lessons will be published in pairs, every two weeks, beginning with Modules 1 & 2. These can be found in the portal and maybe a combination of videos, worksheets, activities and slideshows. You have a fortnight to work through the modules at your own pace and then we will discuss the content more deeply during the Zoom tutorials.
Once you have enrolled you will be sent a package of information containing all your login details, important dates, Zoom links PLUS the Welcome Zoom will make sure you are on the right track.
What if I can't attend the Zoom calls?
The Zoom calls and tutorials are an awesome opportunity to learn and practice but we understand that timezones, life and responsibilities can make turning up on time a challenge. All calls are recorded and made available to you within 24 hours so you won't miss out on any of the juicy goodness.
How long can I access the course content for?
You will have unlimited access to all modules, lessons, videos and materials for at least 12 months - possibly longer.
Are there any assessments?
No. There is no requirement to memorise a bunch of facts or submit any assessments for marking. But we do ask that you take the time to reflect deeply on what you have learnt and complete the activities in the modules.
Can I claim this as professional learning?
ABSOLUTELY. At the completion of the course, I will send you a certificate of participation. Attendance at the Zoom events (either live or via replay) will be necessary to receive the final statement of training hours.
